Job Description

IBM Research is seeking undergraduate students to work as Summer Interns in the field of Quantum Computing at the T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York or Cambridge, MA locations.

The Quantum team has opportunities for interns in software development. IBM has created the Qiskit ecosystem, comprising software libraries and tools for Qiskit Terra (circuit generation, compilation and optimization), Aqua (quantum algorithms and applications, such as AI and chemistry), Aer (high-performance simulation of quantum computations with a highly configurable noise model), and Ignis (quantum hardware characterization, error mitigation and error correction). Students interested in contributing to the Qiskit ecosystem should be proficient in the Python programming language.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, physics or a related area are preferred.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Python programming-basic knowledge

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Coursework in Quantum Mechanics-basic knowledge
