Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will be a member of a highly interdisciplinary team of investigators, including clinicians, biologists, engineers, and imaging scientists, and will be part of an image data science team. The Staff Scientist will be responsible for facilitating and implementing image analytics pipelines for ongoing multidisciplinary imaging research projects. The responsibilities of the Staff Scientist include overseeing the collection and organization of preclinical or clinical medical image datasets (PET, MR, CT); developing appropriate QA/QC protocols to ensure the integrity of analytic pipelines; planning and implementing image processing and analysis pipelines using existing computational modules; and developing new computational tools/pipelines as needed. The Staff Scientist will communicate image processing and analyses results to scientific collaborators. This position may also perform statistical analyses of the image-derived data working together with other researchers in the lab and is expected to contribute to manuscripts, as well as attend national meetings to communicate research findings.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Following instructions and discussions with principal investigator, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification and management of data.
  2. Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  3. Performs complex statistical analysis of data collected and writes interpretative reports. Verifies the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses.
  4. Documents research topics and prepares and submits papers based on research work to publications and committees for publication or presentation to peers.
  5. Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. Suggests technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.
  6. Conducts literature searches related to research project.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree with 4 years of experience in research lab operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 9 years required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or doctoral degree in computer science, statistics, biomedical engineering, mathematics or a related discipline with a background in computational methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in image processing/analytics, data optimization, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.
  • Knowledge in programming (MATLAB, C/C++, Python).
  • Experience in data optimization, data mining, machine learning, and pattern analysis.
  • Experience with medical imaging instruments and methods (i.e., CT, MRI, PET).
  • Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner.
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use a variety of software packages to analyze data.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $46,779 - $63,170 annually.
