Overview: The Tool Maker must be capable of performing as a team member. Each team member may perform a different function, but all functions are considered to be essential for the job. JOB REQUIREMENTS Job Requirements: The following includes both physical and mental qualifications required for success on the job: * Has the ability to operate tool room equipment such as lathers, milling machines, surface grinders, measuring and inspection equipment to accomplish work assignments. Must have the ability to learn to use ID/OD grinders. * Possess the ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using micrometers, indicators, gage blocks, hardness testers, and comparators. * Possess the ability to fabricate and repair dies, fixtures, and tooling from prints, sketches or verbal instructions. Understanding of tool and die making and procedures. * Perform work with high degree of accuracy, fit, form and produce tooling with little supervision from a tool maker. * Determine necessary materials, processes and procedures to accomplish desired jobs or projects, including layout and heat treating of projects. Material, tooling requests and acquisitions may be required.
