Beyond Ingredients LLC based in Washington, Missouri, is a product development and manufacturer of all natural fruit and vegetable solutions for packaged goods. Reporting to the RandD Technical Director, this key function is responsible for supporting the development of new products and adaptation of existing ones in line with best industry lab practices. Successful results require strong communication skills, reliability and the ability to work closely with team members as well as other disciplines within the plant facility.SUMMARY:This position is responsible for assisting the Technical Director with product research projects, new formulations, plant tests and preparing samples for customers by following written and oral direction, ensuring correct and accurate sample preparation and shipping, and operating lab and plant equipment properly and safely. Other responsibilities include weighing/measuring with accuracy, recording data/managing the sample database, communicating sample status, and other duties as assigned. Primary ResponsibilitiesMake samples for internal and external purposes Prepare, maintain and ship formula samples for the Sales Team/CustomersCommunicate sample status to sales and customersDocument formula ingredient lot codes for future trace-ability Manage Retained Samples and documentationPrepare and maintain documents for all sample and material movement in and out of R and D labMaintain and keep up-to-date sample management databaseConfirm results of new formulas and submit to the Technical Director for review/pricing Respect Quality Assurance criteria of samples such as traceability, GMPs, SQFInput Formulas into Genesis RandD nutritional platformConduct analytical and application tests on new products at direction of Technical DirectorSource ingredients, as required, following established sourcing protocolsSupport and set up various product displays for demonstrations to customersLab Management and Food Safety:Ability to learn and apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SQF (Safe Quality Food)Ability to learn and apply Companys HACCP programReport all food safety and quality issues to immediate Supervisor and take immediate action as defined in the site SQF protocolComply with food safety procedures upon new raw material selection, product development or modification and sample preparationAdhere to plant food safety protocols and training requirements Maintain a clean lab and kitchenExpected Hours of Work: Flexible Work SchedulePreferred hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. however there is some flexibility on less than full 40 hour week (24 to 32 hours may be acceptable) and on the start/end time although core hours are always 9:00 am to 3:00 pmExperience:Strong verbal and written communication skills, English languageBasic Math, understanding and skillsBasic computer skills required. Spreadsheet setup for data; email; scheduling; and weight and measurement conversions Ability to compare and distinguish differences in ingredients, materials and overall performance through taste, smell, touch and visual inspection Dexterity to allow the safe and efficient operation of various pieces of equipment Ability to lift/move 10 to 20.0 lbs.Ability to stand for 6 or more hours during the work day
