Position Summary for Machinist Trainee
Our Machinist Trainees receive formal and informal on-the-job training from experienced Machinists in our state-of-the-art facility. You will work closely with a mentor to learn our operations and gain valuable experience in the aerospace industry and machining trade. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude toward hard work and learning experiences; high energy and mechanically inclined; most importantly, is engaged in learning our business, committed to quality and supports our team.
The Washington, MO site runs three shifts:
Day Shift: Monday through Thursday, 6:00a – 4:30p
Night Shift: Monday through Thursday, 4:18p – 2:18a
Weekend Shift: Friday through Sunday, 5:00a – 5:30p
What YOU will learn as a Machinist Trainees
Operation and set-up of a variety of machines used to produce high precision parts
Read blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances
Gain understanding of shop routings, materials, fixtures, and tooling to assure conformity of parts.
Complete paperwork required to document the quality of parts completed.
Required Skills/Competencies for Machinist Trainee
Strong desire to become a highly-skilled Machinist
Genuine interest in machines and how they work
Math skills to perform basic calculations
Read and interpret blue prints
Education Required for Machinist Trainee
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required for Machinist
Hands-on experience in an industrial environment with a steady work history. Previous successful candidates have come from backgrounds in automotive maintenance, carpentry and building construction, major appliance technology, HVAC and/or diesel mechanics.

Ability to sit for extended periods, working at a desk and/or attending meetings.
Use various computer and office equipment as well as be able to move throughout the office and manufacturing area in order to talk/hear or otherwise communicate with employees, management, customers, vendors, and others.
Noise level in the work environment ranges from quite to loud.
Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the plant floor.
