Northrop Grumman Aircraft Low Observ Mech 3 in Whiteman AFB, Missouri
Join a winning team! We have an immediate opportunity for an Aircraft Low Observable Mechanic based at Whiteman AFB. In this position, you will be responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials and applications. Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking and other preparation tasks. Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices. Mixes and applies paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency. Applies additional surface details to manufacturer specifications. Performs or coordinates component-level testing for specification compliance after applications have been completed. May perform similar duties in aircraft build, modification or maintenance role.
AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience OR High school Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 5 years of applicable aircraft low observable/structural experience.
Strong understanding of concepts applicable to aircraft structural manufacture and low observable repair is required.
Must be able to work from blueprint drawings, apply specifications and achieve close tolerances with strict quality oversight.
Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance with ability to maintain eligibility for additional clearances for continued employment.
Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours
Ability to be subject to both external and internal environmental conditions and able to change based upon needs.
Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
Ability to communicate over ambient noise level
Ability to be subject to a variety of atmospheric conditions
Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
Associates degree in an applicable field. B-2 field level or depot level maintenance experience, or similar experience on other stealth platforms.
Other applicable aircraft skills and certifications would be a plus.
Familiarity with USAF technical orders and aircraft forms.
